Building development systems makes a lot of mailflow etc. For example, root mailbox can be filled quite quickly with all kind of non critical messages. Want to delete thousands of emails manually? Not thanks!

Quick and dirty solution for emptying root mailbox:

cat /dev/null > /var/mail/root

Slow system? Web pages load slow? Wondering whats wrong? Login to shell and start troubleshooting with commands 'ps aux', 'tail /var/log/messages' etc. In my case Munin was killing the system with huge amount of processes doing nothing. (ToDo: Install Nagios and Zenoss for better monitoring solution)
